I’ve always been afraid of sharks and would often have dreams of falling from cliffs or the sky straight into shark-filled waters.
Over time, though, I began to see them differently, with more curiosity and respect than fear. Not long after, I had another dream. This time I was underwater with sharks swimming around me, and instead of panic, there was this deep sense of calm. I just remember feeling completely present, aware and in awe of them.
Since then, I’ve felt more curious than afraid. More open. This painting makes me think about facing our fears, and what can happen when we stop resisting something long enough to see it from a different perspective.
